Ava Allyn, Rehab Tech

Ava has been volunteering in rehab facilities since she was 3 years old with her mom, Angel D Ballentine, PT. Starting out, she simply helped nursing home residents with their exercises by helping them keep count. Ava took her job very seriously and made sure that all the exercises were done and only short rest breaks were taken. The seniors loved having little Ava around and by kindergarten she was the regular Bingo caller at senior living facilities all over Wake County.

It was apparent that Ava enjoyed visiting the senior centers, just as much as the seniors loved having her there. She chose to spend teacher workdays, holidays, and weekends at senior centers delivering mail, reading birthday cards, calling Bingo, and helping with crafts, as well as providing assistance to the physical therapists.

Now, Ava is a Senior in high school and has continued to spend time volunteering with seniors and in physical therapy clinics. Ava is currently an honor student with a 4.1 GPA, President of the National Honors Society, a member of the Engineering Academy, an international baccalaureate student, theatre tech crew member, and competitive dancer. She plans to attend college, majoring in Engineering and focusing on designing high tech prosthetics for amputees.

We are excited and honored to have Ava as a part of our team.
